The PiXL Mental Maths app is an engaging and incredibly powerful tool for both students and staff. The app platform provides users with a means of practicing their times tables and the tools to be able to accurately identify strengths and areas to develop. For staff it relays the information about pupil performance in easy to read tables. How the app uses the pupil achievements is what sets this app apart from other platforms. The app will identify areas to develop and provide printable personalised worksheets and also certificates for those who are most engaged. For more information about the apps key features, please read the guidance below.
Revision cards are a great way of rehearsing key facts away from a screen. Our times tables cards will help students to recall their tables whilst being supported by a visual representation of the problem in both formats according to the commutative law.
As a teacher you can use them during an intervention to target specific tables. As a student you can test yourself or use them with a friend whilst playing TT Snap!
Print out our cards on A4 paper or card (scaling the job if required so that you have more cards to a page). If you need the answers, simply reverse the printed paper and reload it into your printer (do a test page first to check the paper has been loaded corectly and the answers match up). The answers will then subtly be printed on the back so there is no way of a user seeing the answer through the revision card itself.
There are two distinct routes on how to get started depending on whether you are Primary or Secondary.
Primary Schools
All pupils will first need to be added to the PrimaryWise database (
). To generate logins for these pupils, go to Pupils – Setup – Export Logins.Secondary Schools
All students will need to be first added to the central database (https://appusers.pixl.org.uk). You will need to upload a list of all students and assign them to a subject and class to allow them to access specific apps (at least a Maths class to access this app).
All-through Schools
Please follow the rules above for your KS1/2 students and KS3/4 students.
Once you have uploaded your students
Having assigned students to classes and distributed the login information, everyone should now be able to login to the app.
All activities are available under "Practise", "Time attack", "The check" or "Games". Please begin to explore these features first. Any results from these activities can be viewed under "Achievements". For any questions that are completed by students, they will earn engagement points. The league tables are available under this tab also.

When students have answered questions in the app, it is possible for staff to produce personalised worksheets for each student from the "Achievements" screen. The app will gather the necessary information from an individual's results to pin point what tables a student requires further practise with. The app will then produce a worksheet for each student comprising of 16 questions, however, they will come as 8 pairs: 1 question will be a multiplication question and the other will be the division equivalent.
